The 2011 Cricket Season
Another great year for Team Scarning.
In June, the school won the West Norwich and District title which gained the team qualification to the the County Finals. Following some close matches, we bowed out at the quater final stage.
In July we were one of twelve teams who entered the first Breckland Schools Tournament. After a great day’s action we collected our second title of the year!
To cap the season, parents and pupils enjoyed an evening in Chelmsford watching a FP 20-20 match in which Essex Eagles triumphed over Glamorgan Dragons – what a great way to end the year.

Scarning School Wins Asda Competition
We won a competition in July run by Asda Kwik Cricket. In order to win the prize of a coaching session with two current England players, we had to collect as many “supporters” as we could on the new Kwik Cricket web site.
This worked in a similar way to Facebook in that “friends” and their “supporters” signed up and could track Scarning’s cricketing progress throughout the season, following the matches, results, videos etc online.
With some fantastic support from friends and parents of the school, we were able to collect around 160 supporters which was enough to scoop the prize.
On the 4th August Mr Cole and Mr Chambers took 13 children plus parents to Birmingham to meet Jonathan Trott and Steven Finn who gave an hour of their time coaching the children. At the end of the session, the players signed autographs and had lots of pictures taken.
