Uniform

st-logoWe feel that the wearing of uniform encourages the children to develop the right attitudes towards school and that it gives them the sense of belonging to Scarning Primary School. Care has been taken to enable parents to purchase clothing from stores of their own choice, but items with the school logo on (sweatshirts, fleeces and T-shirts) can only be ordered from the school supplier, School Trends. Please see the School Trends website: www.schooltrends.co.uk for items to order and special offers that they may be running. Please click on Parent Ordering on the right hand side and then search for our school. School trends do stock items without our logo on, for example trousers and skirts; these are optional to purchase from School Trends. A school book bag is also available. School Trends will take your order and payment (you can pay by debit or credit card or through Paypal) and then there are 2 postage options. You can have your order sent to the school free of charge; School Trends send us orders once a week, or you can pay £4.95 + VAT to have your order delivered straight to your door. Orders over £50 are delivered free of charge. You can order at anytime, including school holidays, but obviously if you choose to have your order delivered to school it will not be received until the new term starts. You could club together with friends to avoid paying the postage! If you do not have access to online ordering you can ring School trends on 0114 251 2501 or collect a paper order form from the glass tunnel by the office, which you can then post. A size guide is available on the School Trends website and below. You can return items that do not fit to School Trends, but you will need to pay the postage, so please do check the size guide before ordering.

Children’s footwear is expected to be suitable and safe for normal school activities. The footwear should be both flat (with no raised heel) and black. Black trainer shoes are acceptable.

Physical Education

The children must have a change of clothing for these PE. They will need navy or black shorts, white T-shirt and plimsolls or trainers.

Children should also have a pair of jogging trousers and a sweatshirt suitable to wear for PE lessons outside. These articles of clothing should be brought to school in a small named bag to be kept on your child’s peg in the cloakroom area. We expect PE kit to be available in school every day.

Long hair must  be tied up on day of PE lesson – please ensure your child’s hair is either tied up before coming to School or provide a band for them to tie it up for PE.

Stud earrings should be removed or taped up.

Swimming

One-piece swimsuits or trunks and a towel are required for swimming lessons. These are to be brought to school on the day of the lesson in a named bag. Please note that for safety reasons swimming shorts and bikinis are not allowed. Dereham Leisure Centre will not allow children to swim with earrings in. Please ensure your child takes their earrings out on the day they are going swimming.

Lost Property

Please could all articles of school clothing, especially school sweatshirts and fleeces, be named or marked clearly with your child’s name to prevent articles of clothing being lost. At the end of each half term we will go through the lost property box. Anything with a name will be returned to the right class, everything else will be donated to the clothing recycling container located on the school grounds.

Jewellery in School

Children with pierced ears should only wear stud style earrings. All earrings must be removed by pupils for all PE activities, as well as for swimming (this is a Dereham Leisure Centre requirement). No other jewellery is allowed.
