School Day

8.40 am School gates open.

8.45 am Children may wait in the playground for School to start. Before this time there may not be a teacher on duty in the playground. If it is raining heavily the teacher on playground duty will make a decision to open the classrooms early. Teachers will open their doors to show pupils that they are allowed to come into school early.

8.50 am School starts and morning registration takes place. Teachers will collect pupils from the playground – each class will know where to wait. Pupils arriving after this time need to report to the office and will be marked as being late. Any pupil arriving after 9.10am will have an unauthorised absence recorded.

3.30pm Office closes. There is an answerphone operating after this time if you would like to leave a message.

During a normal school day the children receive 4 hrs 15 mins teaching a day (21 hrs 15 mins a week); this excludes the statutory daily act of worship, registration, lunch and playtime. Those in KS2 receive 4 hrs 30 mins (22 hrs 30 mins a week).

Parents wishing to talk to either the Headteacher or the class teacher are asked, whenever possible, to do so at 3.15 pm when we are not so busy.

If a child is absent for any reason, please contact the office as early in the day as possible in order to let the school know. The school operates a ‘first day calling scheme’, whereby we will contact the parents of any child who is absent if we have not received notification.

If you need to take your child out of School for any reason please inform their class teacher either the day before or on the morning. Children can be collected from the office area.
